Happy Flying

Posted by Suzanne (Huntington Bch, California, United States) on 7 December 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

Today is the 67th anniversary of the day that President Franklin D. Roosevelt described as “a date which will live in infamy.” The bombing of Pearl Harbor is also nearly forgotten...even here in the U.S.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky
How many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry
How many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died
The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind
The answer is blowing in the wind

Viewfinder from Bradenton, United States

A very colorful shot; and a good choice of lyrics to accompany this day that lives in our country's history; not sure FDR's term "infamy" is as accurate anymore -- so much as a hard lesson, hopefully learned, about dealing with aggressors. I am glad we and Japan have become friends. Wouldn't it be wonderful if down the road we and Iraq and Iran could manage something like that, too without more bloodshed or
imposition of Sharia law?

Hikari from Kumamoto, Japan

Seems like after so many years we haven´t learned a single thing , probably we don´t deserve to live in this wonderful planet.
Hope and peace!

8 Dec 2008 12:03am

@Hikari: Thank you for your comment, Hikari. It is a wonderful world and I don't know if we are deserving or not but we can all hope and pray for peace and harmony for all humankind. A little thing like this blog where we make online friendships all over the globe is proof that it is a very small world and we are all very much alike in our hearts.

I love all the colors and action in this image. I know what you mean about the day - I was wondering why it wasn't even marked on my wall calendar when all the "Hallmark" holidays are. Where are our priorities???
