Today is my birthday. It's a very big round number that I prefer not to think about. I was born on Easter Sunday but my birthday has, as far as I can recall, never fallen on that day since. Maybe I'll put this birthday off until Sunday, so I'll have a better reason to celebrate.
Monday was a gorgeous, warm day here in SoCal, so my husband and I decided to take the boat out for our first day, this year, on the ocean. This old heron watched over us as we launched.

one of my favourite birds even though the only time I see one is when we're traveling. I love the perspective of this and how its feathers flying in the wind are echoed by the grasses. So nicely composed -- a fine job!

A Very Happy Birthday to You ! Herons are high on my list of favorite creatures and I have one at a local park who recognizes me as the Sardine Man and will fly to me for food. The sharpest eyesight around (the heron, not me).
